This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

Maybe weather? Maybe the people who have the equipment and/or expertise to take it down are worn out from last pre-race days? Maybe someone realized that on Monday there might be a lot of people who came for the race end/banquet who'd like to take pics with the arch? I'd think it's a Nome decision not an Iditarod organization decision but of course, don't really know.

Here is today and yesterday when they removed the fence. Wonder when it will be taken down?

Still up this morning!!
Maybe they just stuck a picture of it on the cam!
I have noticed there doesn't seem to be a lot of traffic. Just an occasional vehicle going by.
