This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

I am not sure if it's best to divide or just have one topic or not.
But I think Kaltag to Koyuk will be essential to the race outcome, with Shaktoolik closed, it will be harder to predict. It is a bit exciting that the race is harder to read.
Anyhow, Thomas, Aaron and Jessie has left Kaltag. Thomas is 9 miles ahead.

Was surprised (and a little concerned) that Pete has not yet left Kaltag as of this morning. Richie, yes, he needs to tread carefully, but Pete has now been there 12+ hours?

yes I was wondering about Pete too.
Brent still running at mile 675. Be interesting to see if he stops at 676 with Jessie, Aaron B and Wade.

That shelter cabin on the spit outside Shak is going to be a very busy place tonight.
